Scum City

Obviously this is an all Cleveland post. I guess ill go in order according to the pictures. First we have Masakari's Eden Compromised. This is their first release, and was done by Halo Of Flies records (Protestant, Fall of Efrafa). Very melodic hardcore/crust, but also with some japanese-esque riffing and low vocals. Basically a From Ashes Rise/Tragedy worship type band. Their second release, The Prophet feeds... is due out this month with artwork by Sugi.

Second we have Nun Slaughter. This is not only one of my favorite metal bands, but easily one of my favorite records. I mean, come on, it's a fucking upside-down cross! Nun Slaughter has been around since the late 80's and is still going strong. Brutal satanic death metal.

Last we have another great, legendary Cleveland band. 9 Shocks Terror. Getting their name from a Lip Cream album, 9 Shocks plays awesome hardcore punk. This is a record at the top of my favorites not only because they are a great band, but this version of their self-titled 7inch is a test pressing (final release has a picture of someone with a bag on their head). If you've never heard of this band (especially living in northeast Ohio) you should probably kill yourself.

Sorry no 9 shocks or Nun Slaughter. Buy the fucking record.

Yer son is just a piece of shit in dog tags...

Somewhere in my top 3 favorite bands, is Dystopia. I really don't have a favorite band of all time cause it's really too hard to choose. They formed in 1991 in orange county, and haved actually only released two full length albums. With the drummer also doing vocals they're some of the most brutal shit ever. Their style is kind of hard to explain but its somewhere between punk/grind/sludge. The lyrical content is also some of the best shit written, in my opinion. Subject matters include: self-loathing, animal rights, race equality, suicide, and drugs. I believe one of the members also owns Life Is Abuse records, but i am not completely sure on that. If you like some depressing, evil sounding shit, you'll dig it.
